Cabarrus County Carolina Club’s Flag Retirement Program

The Cabarrus County Carolina Club’s  flag retirement program will turn two years old on June 14, 2024. As of March 31, 2024, the club has 14 collection boxes placed in the community and 2 more to be placed soon. The totals of flags collected through this program are:

2022 –  366 flags

2023 – 3829 flags

2024 –  765 flags (as of April 14th)

Grand Total – 4960 flags

The  worn and tattered US and state flags collected will be retired properly, in a dignified manner, adhering to the US Flag code. The club is partnering with local community groups, such as the Scouts and Daughters of the American Revolution, to carry out the retirement ceremonies.

In the process of collecting these flags, we always find a number of them that are still serviceable. Some are almost brand new and others are slightly worn or needed minor repairs and can still represent our country well. These flags are available to any group or person that needs one to display proudly. Most are 3′ x 5′ with a sleeve that goes over an angled pole that you would attach to your house. But we also have others, up to 5′ x 8′ with gromets, that would attach to a traditional flag pole. There are also some “stick” flags, used for parades and in cemeteries, as well as large flags to cover a casket, available. If you would like a flag, use the contact information below to make your request. The flags are free to those who can use them, but a small donation to help cover the costs of the program is always appreciated.

The club currently has 14 active collection boxes with site sponsors in three counties. They are located at:
